Yes, this is Geoff,
philosopher of smallness. It’s my primary concern and my condition. Most people are small like me but they don’t spend time talking about it which is very strange. The usual practice of small people is to distract observers by speaking of their jobs and other matters which have a weight in the grander scheme of life. I tried to do the same as them, to talk big, but I found that I’m very bad at it as are most. Everywhere you look you can easily find the failures strewn about on the ground and it won’t be hard to find mine.
Now I allow myself to be small and it’s delighting. What even is a professional? It’s a not a person. It’s not a happy life. It’s not anyone you know. A profession is a game played by professionals. They get played all day and some people don’t know how to stop and other people only care to watch. It’s a freakish thing and I don’t think anyone should strive for it. If it comes to you accept it because it pays well but outside of that I don’t think it’s worth it. I’ll tell you one thing; they don’t talk like that off the clock.
Why subscribe?
No reason but there might be a feeling. I won’t promise you anything. Making a comment is usually a pretty mundane experience and being on the in of something merely because it’s exclusive doesn’t make it a valuable experience. Overall though it is nice to read things.
What is this about?
It’s about. I just get ideas and like to make something of them. I have books and collections but they’re all unfinished and driving me mad. So everything in it’s own way is about everything else. The path runs eternal and it’s pretty rad.
